Best Management Practices

A best management practice (BMP) is a voluntary efficiency measure intended to save a quantifiable amount of water, either directly or indirectly, and that can be implemented within a specified timeframe. Initially, a "Water Conservation Best Management Practices Guide" was developed by the Water Conservation Implementation Task Force in November 2004. Currently, the Best Management Practices are crafted, managed, and updated by the Water Conservation Advisory Council and interested stakeholders.  Completed BMPs are published on the Texas Water Development Board's website.
