Manufacturing Blue Legacy Award

2017 Nomination Packet

Water Grows Texas

Manufacturing water use is water used in manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, food and beverage products, textiles and apparel, paper products, petroleum refining, chemical products, metals, computers and electronic products, and transportation equipment.  Many manufacturing water users have been improving efficiency for several years by replacing old technologies and practices with those that accomplish the same desired goals utilizing lower water demands. In the most successful instances water conservation has essentially become part of the business plan for long term water supply.

The Water Conservation Advisory Council created the Blue Legacy Awards as recognition of responsible management of our water resources. These awards are a means to showcase examples of effective stewards of water resources. Through the Blue Legacy Awards the Council honors those groups whose practices enhance conservation of water while maintaining or improving profitability.

Recognition is given to manufacturing water users that have demonstrated outstanding and innovative commitment to the state’s mission of promoting responsible management of water resources as well as conservation of Texas’ water resources.

What is the Blue Legacy Award for Manufacturing Water Use?

Through the Blue Legacy Award recognition the Council hopes to encourage others to initiate like-minded programs and reinforce a commitment of conservation and stewardship of water resources in Texas. The Council will use winners’ success stories to promote and expand efforts in water conservation. Blue Legacy Award acknowledgment also promotes the winners themselves as credible spokespersons. Through these winners, the program will generate positive information about water conservation in similar water use sectors as well as encourage others in the state to improve their water conservation practices.
